Magnetic flow meters are preferred for slurry lines, but they must feature Polyurethane or Teflon (PTFE) liners and High Abrasive Electrodes (Tantalum or Tungsten Carbide). This combination resists wear, minimizes downtime, and maintains accuracy in highly erosive media like tailings and mineral concentrate.

Non-contact radar level transmitters operating at higher frequencies (e.g., 80GHz) are required. These high-frequency signals provide narrow beam angles, minimizing interference from silo walls, internal structures, and dust clouding, delivering precise volume inventory management.

Density measurement, achieved via Coriolis effect mass flow meters or nuclear density gauges, is critical for controlling the flotation reagent dosage. Maintaining the correct slurry density optimizes mineral recovery rates, reduces costly chemical consumption, and stabilizes the thickener underflow.

Sensors in this area must be robust against high vibration and mechanical shock. A heavy-duty pressure transmitter featuring an all-welded stainless steel construction and superior IP rating (IP68) is recommended, designed for long life in dusty, abrasive environments.

Turbidity Sensors and Suspended Solids (TSS) Analyzers are used to monitor the cleanliness of filtered process water. Accurate measurement ensures that the water being recycled back into the process is clean enough to prevent fouling of equipment or interference with subsequent chemical stages.

Specialized solid flow meters (using impact plate or microwave technology) are used. These systems measure the mass flow rate of bulk solids on conveyors or down chutes, which is critical for accurate material blending and inventory control.

DP transmitters monitor the pressure drop across the filter media. This drop rapidly increases as the filter press clogs. Monitoring this DP allows operators to schedule the press cleaning cycle precisely, maximizing filtration efficiency and protecting the filter cloths from bursting.

A high-temperature thermocouple(often Type R, S, or B) protected by a heavy-duty ceramic thermowell is required. These assemblies can withstand temperatures exceeding 1600℃(2900℉), essential for monitoring melt integrity and refractory health.
